Weddings are beautiful, memorable, a lot of fun and stressful. While the wedding itself may last only for a day or two, planning a wedding can take months. From picking the perfect napkins and flowers to creating the perfect seating plan, planning a wedding can be the cause for many sleepless nights. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way. A few simple tips can help make wedding planning less stressful and more enjoyable.

Know what you want

When it comes to weddings, everyone has an opinion. While some of their ideas may be helpful, it can also be confusing. So, before you announce your engagement, discuss the wedding with your partner and decide on the basic elements of the big day. Remember, this is your day and hence don’t try pleasing anyone else.

Take time off from planning

As the wedding draws closer you may find yourself thinking about it every time you meet your fiancé and the wedding being the only topic of discussion. This is not healthy. Set aside some time every week for you to relax with your fiancé and make it a point not to talk about the wedding during that time.

Don’t leave anything for the last minute

Keep the evening before your wedding and the morning of the wedding as free as possible. Avoid scheduling a brunch with your bridesmaids or any beauty treatments on these two days. Avoid last minute checks on your venue and wait to see the final arrangements when they’re ready. Accept that the people handling your décor know what they are doing and don’t give yourself added stress by looking at a semi-finished hall.

Delegate

This is your day but you do not have to take on everything yourself. Many venues have a list of suppliers they can vouch for and it may be a good idea to work with the same people. This assures you that they know the venue’s policies and regulation. Check for more details on how a venue could help with your wedding planning. Make your family part of the planning by giving everyone their own responsibilities from making sure the other guests are comfortable to collecting keepsakes like the wedding programme, a copy of the menu, napkins etc.

Lastly, remember that at the end of the day, all that matters is you and your fiancé coming together to start a new life.
