Bowling is a game where players attempt to score by rolling a bowling ball into what is called “crashing ninepins” turn by turn. Bowling traced its ancestry to 3200 BC and was seen way back in the 1840s in gambling centres in New York City.

Nowadays, bowling is a popular game played among people of all ages. However, adults love to play this game with a couple of beers and it’s considered to be one of the best recreational activities.

Choosing the ball type

To become a professional bowling player, you have got to have your own bowling bowl. But if you’re more like a casual player, then perhaps there is no need to purchase your own ball just yet, as these are already present in bowling alleys.

You can derive satisfaction from merely selecting the perfect ball type for you. However, it is not always easy, and many people still find it challenging to look for their ideal bowling bowl. But one thing you should know about is that the bowling bowls weight, reactiveness, aesthetics, and the texture should fit very well with you.

Why do people love bowling?

Bowling is not as popular as before the 70s, but it is still one of the favourite recreational activities people have known for many generations. Aside from being a perfect stress reliever, it is a game that eases tension and gets your mind straight. The game is enjoyable for any age groups, and here’s why:

  • Bowling is Great Indoor Activity for Socialising and Unifying

Another good option if you and your friends would love to gather over something is heading to a bowling alley! Not just for the young ones, but the elderlies could get a stretch up at the bowling alley too. Whether you also have a massive family heading your way and trying to find quality time with you or just want to go solo, bowling is excellent for groups of all sizes. It suits every occasion.

  • Bowling is perfect for first dates

Bowling provides an immediate topic of conversation when you’re running out of words to say. If the woman you are trying to court is kind of unsure how to play, this sport can easily be learned in a single hour sitting. Aside from bowling alleys giving both of you privacy to play, it conveys a sense of fun and comfort with your partner.

This sport can be nothing but a friendly game, but it can also be highly competitive. How your date approaches the game gives insights to your partner’s character. You can get nervous on first dates, but bowling provides a fun, casual, and tension-free environment.

  • Almost anyone can play bowling at any time of the day

Bowling alleys have convenient hours, no matter how busy your schedule is. Kids usually hang on Saturday mornings, and adults for some grown-up talks in the afternoon till evening. There are no requirements, just present yourself at the alley, because they’ve got everything you need.

  • You can eat, drink, play, or do anything that you like, but remember the alley rules!

Not many sports have built grills, food stalls, and bars for players: beers, wines, sodas, junk foods, etc. And since you are there to have fun and not to compete with anybody, it could be relaxing as well.

  • Inclusive game

You won’t have to worry about whether it is raining or too hot outside. External weather does not affect this game.

Very few games require gender or age restrictions. Men and women can play together and even compete for who has to pay the tab! Kidding aside, everyone plays as equals, from a four-year-old child to a seventy-year-old.

The good thing about bowling is you can play it informally with anyone just for fun. However, some people perceive that bowling is not a sport simply because of its casual aspects. But no matter what people claim it to be, bowling is certainly gaining more popularity more than ever as a fun and casual activity.
