Save The Earth, Know Its Worth

At this day and age, everyone knows that the Earth is slowly succumbing to an environmental crisis.

There are many people who claim to be environmental activists but a number of them are also the same people you see littering and disposing of waste here and there. Unfortunately, some of these individuals still also believe that they still have got time before the Earth crumbles. There are those who begin waiting for a miracle and those that also do their best to join hands to allow our lives to be better and greener. A little step of being environmentally friendly goes a long way.

And who knows, perhaps one day the Earth will become a safe haven again for all living creatures who use the fresh air and lovely gardens. It is safe to say that with each step of becoming environmentally aware, they help make a difference. Just ask those whom you know are called “environmental freaks”, they will tell you that there is a big contrast between their environmentally welcome home and the environment you always experience when you are outside.

Let us face it, the roads that most cars pile up in are not pretty good for our noses. The automobile emissions not only go straight to our lungs when we fail to cover our noses and mouths properly but up in the ozone layer as well. And because of that, the layer becomes thinner and thinner, allowing global warming to get to us step by step.

Three of the best ways that can make a big difference in this word are by creating solutions on waste, recycling and processing recyclable materials.

Solutions on Waste

Some of the possible ways waste can be managed are by:

  • Landfill
    • having waste buried off in empty and deserted locations far from the city
  • Incineration
    • waste will be exposed to high temperature triggering combustion and thus be reduced to ash, gas and heat energy
  • Recycling
    • making use of the waste and turning them into something new
  • Biological reprocessing
    • making waste undergo biological decomposition and laster used again as compost of mulch; gas is used for electricity generation
  • Waste reduction and avoidance

Recycling

Some possible ways to recycle some of the most common items:

  • Light bulbs
    • Raw materials of light bulbs can be reused, which can save enough energy to light another bulb for a few hours
  • Plastic bags and baggies
    • Simply reuse the plastic bags rather than throw them out; throwing out plastics bags will only allow them to turn into landfill after thousands of years
  • Batteries
    • Batteries can contaminate land and water due to their heavy metal, instead, it is possible to re-charge them under the sun
  • Tattered clothing
    • You can use tattered clothing for stuffings, like sofas, stuffed toys, and the like
  • Ink and toner cartridges
    • You can recycle these cartridges by selling them to those who buy and sell used items or simply use them as holders for staplers, clips and the like in offices

Processing Recyclable Materials

There are 3 simple steps in the process of recycling materials

  1. Collecting the recyclables
  2. Processing the recyclables and turning them into recycled-content products
  3. Purchasing recycled products

With all these in mind, it is best now to make sure that the Earth is a much safer and greener place for each and everyone to live in without care of suffering from climate change.
